How to take before and after photos that show real progress

Make your comparison in three steps

  • Add a before photo and an after photo. Use the same angle in both: front, side or back.
  • Pick a layout (side by side, slider or stacked) and a format: 1:1 for a feed post, 4:5 for a portrait post, 9:16 for a story.
  • Add a headline and up to four stats, such as weight lost, waist change or weeks of training, then export the image.

Tips for a fair comparison

  • Same place, same light, same time of day. Morning, before eating, works best.
  • Same distance and camera height. A phone on a shelf with a timer beats a mirror selfie.
  • Same clothes and the same relaxed posture. Do not pump up or suck in for one photo only.
  • Take photos every 2 to 4 weeks. Weekly changes are too small to see and easy to misread.

Track progress beyond the photo

  • Scale weight moves by 1 to 2 kg a day with water and food. Compare weekly averages, not single days.
  • A tape measure at the waist often shows fat loss while the scale stands still.
  • Strength going up in your main lifts is progress too, even when photos look the same.

FAQ

Is the before and after photo maker free?

Yes. It is free and needs no account. The exported image carries a small Fiytt watermark in the bottom right corner.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is made in your browser. Your photos never leave your device and Fiytt does not store them.

Which format should I use for Instagram?

Use 4:5 for a feed post (it takes the most space in the feed), 1:1 for a square post and 9:16 for a story or reel cover.

How long should I wait between before and after photos?

Visible change usually takes 8 to 16 weeks of steady training and eating. Take photos every 2 to 4 weeks so you can pick the clearest pair.

Can a coach share a client's before and after?

Only with the client's permission. In Fiytt, a coach builds the image from photos the client shared, and the client must approve it before it can be exported.
